Mikrotik x86 v6.3 RouterOs level 6
Before discussing further, it is necessary to first know what a PC Router is. PC Router is a PC that has been prepared to be used as a Router. This PC will not be used for computer needs in general, but will be used to run services on the network.
If we have prepared a PC that will be specifically used as a PC Router, then what needs to be done is to install the PC with Mikrotik OS. Mikrotik OS installation steps:
- Download the Mikrotik OS CD Image in ISO format. You can download here.
- Burn the ISO file to a CD using a CD Burner application, such as Nero for example.
- If the Mikrotik OS CD is ready, set the PC Router BIOS to boot via CD ROM and insert the Mikrotik OS CD into the CD ROM.
- If the PC Router is successfully booting via the following display will appear:
- Here we are asked to select the Mikrotik OS package to be installed. Minimum package "System". Use the arrow keys on the keyboard to select, and press the SPACEBAR to select a package. If you are sure, press the "i" key on the keyboard.
- Several questions will arise, such as whether to save the existing configuration?, because we installed fresh, type "n". A warning will also appear that all hard drives will be formatted. so Mikrotik OS can not be made doal boot, or more than one OS in the PC Router. Mikrotik will format and use all available hard drive resources.
- Type "y" in the Continue ? if you are sure. The PC will start the Mikrotik OS installation process.
- If the installation process is complete, press ENTER to restart and restore the boot settings in the BIOS via the hard drive.
